Dear Brothers and Sisters in Scouting,

The World Council of the WFIS wish you and all your Scouts and Guides a

“Happy Thinkingday and Happy Foundersday”

Together we will celebrate this 164th anniversary to remember the Founder of the Scout Movement, Robert Stephenson Smith Baden Powell – Lord of Gilwell, and his wife Lady Olave St. Clair, former World Chief Guide.

Keeping our promise in mind and taking the time to celebrate the true spirit of Scouting and Guiding to spread the flame of traditional Scouting to all our young brothers and sisters.

We need to honour the idea of a worldwide brotherhood, feeling the connection between a world full of Scouts and Guides and knowing that “together we are the strongest”; we can all overcome the difficulties that we do face every day, in these time which is so difficult and strange for everyone.

Connected, in some way, with other brothers and sisters of the Scout Movement in our groups, associations and countries, allows us to keep the flame of friendship and brotherhood alight and to remember the teachings that our founder left and thus fulfil his “Try and leave this world a little better than you found it”.

At WFIS it is our tradition at this day to carry out a “Penny Action” to support the brothers and sisters of Scouting and Guiding in our Federation. We do have the chance to do more than 7 million good deeds for all who need it. If you have the opportunity to participate, do not hesitate to contact us.

On behalf of the World Council, we wish you peace, friendship and a wonderful time with your Scouts and Guides.

Yours in traditional Scouting

Klaus Tegeder – President WFIS
