Dear brothers and sisters in Scouting,

Another eventful year is drawing to a close and I hope this letter reaches you and your scouts and guides in the best of health.

2024 was fruitful for our federation and we were able to offer many different programmes for our members. Examples include the workshops, WB training sessions and assemblies in the various regions, which we were able to organise both on site and virtually.

New member organisations have joined us, and I would like to welcome them warmly here once again.

We initiated a member survey to obtain an up-to-date status of membership figures and maintain the flow of communication. We hope to be able to communicate the current figures worldwide with the annual report.

Unfortunately, we also received sad news of scouts who have sadly passed away and will be missed by us all. Our thoughts are with the families and scout brothers and sisters.

Some of our members continue to face challenges, be it the effects of war, hunger or ecological disasters.

As Scouts, we can tackle these challenges together, in the spirit of Lord Baden Powell, and as a community of solidarity we can provide support where we can.

As a strong community of traditional scouts and guides, we stand together and support each other wherever we can. We as Scouts stand for cosmopolitanism, tolerance and peace, Baden Powell gave us the task to be the ambassadors of peace and we have to fulfil this task every day.

I guarantee that we, as the third largest scout and guiding Federation in the world, will take up this challenge and leave our world a little better than we find it.

We can show the civilian world that we defy all odds and follow the spirit of scouting every day. True to our self-chosen motto:

“Together, we are strongest.”

Thank you for being part of our Worldwide Scouting family.

In the name of the WFIS Council, I wish you, your family, and your members

Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year

Yours in traditional Scouting, on behalf of the WFIS World Council

Klaus Tegeder – President WFIS
